LIGHT-SABRE DUEL PUTS TWO IN HOSPITAL

TWO Star Wars fans are in a critical condition in hospital after duelling with lightsabres made by filling fluorescent light tubes with petrol.

The pair - a man aged 20 and a girl of 17 - are believed to have been filming a mock fight when one of the devices exploded in woodland on Sunday.

They were rushed to West Herts Hospital before being transferred to the specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, in Essex.

Police say a third person present at the incident was questioned.

E3 Being Brodcast Live

This year for the first time ever E3 is being broadcast live by MMORadio. They have teamed up with NCsoft, the complany that produced City of heros and Guild Wars, to bring the entire convention to the gaming public. Apparently the NC soft display has pyrotechnicks and girles in leather making out, man i wish i was there. It's about time the let the public know more, how can they make such a cool conference/expo and not let the general gaming public attend. It's lunacy. Every dedicated gamer in the world wants to be there.

I have recorded the stream of the first days broadcast in broken bits. Hoping to get tomorows broad cast as one big file. I can't listen all day but I want to, it will give me something to lsiten to in the car. They have a contest too. At the end of the day they ask you 4 question about some of the interviews given during the day. If you send them the answers you are entered into a draw to win one of 10 prizes each day. So that is 30 prizes over the 3 days of the expo. I entered today and plan to again over the next 2 days if possibel. You can win special edditons coppies of games, the chance to beta test city of villians or some other expo goodies. i figure ill have a good chance to win something.

Really if you think about it, it is an obvious advertising ploy . Lets pay to bring a popular internet radiostation to E3, they can interview us and to make sure people are listining we will throw a contest based on information contained in those interviews. Well i guess since they are paying to bring MMORadio to E3, giving them a place on the floor not stuck in the journalist area, and hooking them up with several hight speed connections for their streem the are intitled to a bit of product placement. There top level advertismetn execs where really on the ball when they tought up this idea.

Expect a Starwars Poast tomorow cause im taking the day off work to go. Sorry frank, ill go again when you get back.

Music, Music, Music

So while browsing eBay for scientific equipment at work I decided to check out the prices on hard drive MP3 player (see previus poast on ipods). What did I see but a Creative Nomad Xtra 40Gb player up for $150 US with no bids on it and 5 min to go. I bid on it and as expected some peaople tried to outbid me at the last sec. After a last min counter bid by me i managed to grab it for about $160 US. Now that is awesome because it is $250 US new and the equivilant iPod is over $400. They sent it the cheepest possible way so it only cost $15 S&H which is cool but it took 2 weeks to get here.

When it arrived i realized why it was so cheep. I should have read the poast a bit better cause it turns out the headphone jack was broken, there was no sound from the left. I checked on the web and it turns out this is a commen problem, it's a fault with the design. I was pissed for a bit but if it was such a commen problem i assumed there must be a fix for it. After all iPod batteries where supposed to be irreplacible but people found ways to do it. With a little searching i found The Bishops Nomad Fix. The Problem is the headphone jack is attached using surface mounted tabs which can break under the stress of use. You simply have to solder a wire from the board connection to the headphone jack. After 20 very tense min i have a perfectly good working MP3 player.

Im not sure how i am going to fill up 40gb of music but you can use it as a portable HD aswell so it will be usefull for transfering files aswell. i have just started to rip all my CD's to MP3 format. It is going to take a while as i have a lot of CD's but it will be nice to have all my music with me all the time.

I picked of a CD my Stabbing Westward, a band i discovered while listing to MMO Radio. There a pretty cool band, very heavy. I got "The esential Stabbing Westward", it's a greatest hits CD. Stuff from 3 of there albums plus 2 songs used on movie soundtracks. i can definatly recomend this album if you like heavier music. Check out "What am i supposed to do?", "Shame" or "Save Yourself" if you want to check out there music.

Well Back to Ripping CD's

How Things Work: The Lightsaber

If you read Slashdot then you have probably already seent this story but incase you are interested How Stuff Works Has Written quite a good article on How Lightsabers Work.

This is my favorite part
Important Safety Information
A lightsaber is not a toy! Keep it out of reach of children at all times. Lightsaber locks are required in most states.

There are two ends to any lightsaber -- one end has the belt ring, while the other end houses the blade arc tip and blade emitter. NEVER point the blade emitter of a lightsaber toward your own body. NEVER look down the "barrel" of a lightsaber, even if you are "sure" it is in safe mode. If you accidentally activate the lightsaber, serious injury could result.
