Fun was had by all
Well my video card has not been shipped yet so I guess I will have to write this entry from work. Damn not having a computer. BTW thanks to Kafui for letting me borrow his old lap top until my computer is up and running again.
This weekend was orientation at the college. Fun was had by all.
Friday:
Friday was the getting to know you day. First off floor parties to introduce everyone to each other. We did this cut out thing where we made door decorations for each other. The idea being you need to get to know the person to decorate their door. I think this was a fairly good idea although I preferred last years cake decorating. The door decorations just don't taste as good.
After that was the info fair where all the clubs at the college set up shop and tried to solicit new members and inform the public of our "mission statement". Sunday night movies ran a contest to choose last nights movie like last year and the random draw this year provided us with "Final Destination" as the movie of choice. There was some protest but I promised everyone a fair draw and I was not going to go back on it just because someone threw in a crappy movie.
The Institute had probably the most impressive set up and we had a considerable amount of interest from many new students. Many where surprised to find so many like minded researchers in such a small setting and I am excited to see what new ideas they bring to the table.
Friday night saw the full party kick into gear. We set op the Karaoke and DDR. TO mis surprise DDR was very popular and we had considerable lineups. we where constantly switching between karaoke and DDR and people where playing even when the sound was turned off so people could sing. They wern't doing that well as you really need to here the song to play but they where trying. There are some interesting pictures of people playing on the web and a video of me and amber dueling on the pads. Thanks to Parie for those.
Saturday:
hmm this post is longer than I thought, betters shorten things up. Saturday we hiked Hollyburn ridge to the peak at 1350m elevation. I rained in the morning but cleared up about 15 min into the hike. Oh it was still overcast but no rain. At the top we where treated to a beautiful view of fog in all directions. Fun was had by all.
Sunday:
I drove a bunch of people too and from Ikea. Ikea really does have some cool stuff, just wish I had money and space for it. I saw this really kick ass closet organizer with sliding things and rotating rods and all sorts of other hidden and conveniently placed compartments. Why didn't they have stuff like this when I was a kid. Fun was had by all.
